Synthesis and reflection
Media Law
One thing I learned new about with the media law is that you have some restrictions but other then that you can do whatever. A new concept that I learned about was that obscenity can be anything viewed offensively, or inappropriate. when you think of inappropriate you think of language or actions, but there's a lot more. obscenity can be invasion of privacy and warnings. paparazzi is always being obscene because they are invading peoples privacy by constantly talking to them or asking the questions, and taking pictures/videos of them. For one of my papers I actually did the dress code for school, and one of the things was obscenity and that's when I got more interested into it. In journalism I learned a lot, and most of it was about how we do have rights and that the school cant take them away from us. We have a right to talk about most things. Journalism has taught me that I shouldn't be afraid to speak my mind, and that I do have an opinion and a voice and that I am able to share them, there are some rules, and as a journalist you have to follow but other then that its all up to you. Media law is where everyone can see it and as the writer you need to be very careful about what you post.
Fake News
Something that caught my mind on fake news is that it is everywhere, and no one really knows until you talk or learn about it. Fake news is really interesting because anything could be fake news, like when you google something, or research, even some news cites are fake. With fake news we have to be careful to not get false information. Something that I will think about differently is that you really have to do your research and make sure that you are not given fake facts. As a journalist I now know to really look into my papers and make sure all the things I wrote about are true, and that I don't make up a silly lie to make it more interesting. I will be sure to put the truth and nothing but the truth into my papers. For one of our assignments we watched a movie on a true story called "Shattered Glass" and that's when I think all of us realized that anything and everything can be fake, When Stephan Glass was writing papers, everything seemed to good to be true, and that was when his boss realized everything was fake. No body wanted to believe it, but then it started making sense. He worked at a really good newspaper place called "The New Republic", and when people found out everyone was devastated.
